I Was a 20th Century Lesbian > 1: The Curse

Mokuhanga woodblock print by Annie Bissett, a reproduction of an email sent to Rev. Jerry Falwell in 2001 after 9/11
DEAR MR. FALWELL
Japanese woodblock (mokuhanga)
14.5" x 20.5" (37 x 52.4 cm)

On September 13, 2001, Rev. Jerry Falwell made comments on his television show (The 700 Club) linking the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center with God's supposed wrath about gay people. Falwell had been an ardent critic of homosexuality since the 1970s, when he began working with Anita Bryant in her Florida-based "Save the Children" campaign. This print is a hand-carved reproduction of an email I sent to Falwell after I heard his remarks.
