General James Slife was the vice chief of staff of the Air Force, the second-highest ranking officer in that branch. He was fired on February 21, 2025 by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. The reasons for his firing have not been publicly disclosed, but it followed criticism he received for addressing issues of racism in the military. This drawing is a record of General Slife’s 36 years of service.
