Relieved of Duty
Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield was the first woman to serve as president of the Naval War College in Newport RI. She then served as US Military Representative to the NATO Military Committee until she became the fourth female senior officer fired by Trump and Hegseth in April 2025 due to a “loss of confidence in her ability to lead.”
Chatfield had been singled out on a list from the conservative American Accountability Foundation for espousing what the group termed “woke” values, probably because of a presentation she gave on Women’s Equality Day in 2015. Her presentation that day contained a slide that said “investing in gender equality and women’s empowerment can unlock human potential on a transformational scale.”
